Reasons for being part of the APS

Sales exist in every business, regardless of sector, economic state or field – it’s a fact that selling is the only activity in business that creates revenue, yet it’s often a role which is significantly demoralised, especially in SME’s. I’m passionate about being part of a community which not only embraces sales and selling, but provides a benchmark for the ‘right’ type of selling – driven by ethics, quality, commitment and skill. The Association of Professional Sales (APS) stands for everything the sales industry should be led from – progressing the opinion of sales through education, expert insight and recognition for not only the sales leaders of today, but for tomorrow.

My personal driver for supporting the APS is to establish the sales profession as a desirable, ethical and fulfilling career destination for future sales leaders, as well as seeing a change in opinion around ‘sales’ people as a whole, and it no longer being a dirty word in business…

Sales Career

My sales career started with my first real job selling advertising for a traditional media agency and the genuine love grew from there. Since then my roles have lead me between marketing delivery and sales operations with the capability to see the alignment between the two. I’ve had an incredibly rewarding and diverse career, from Director of Sales and Marketing in challenging male-dominated sectors such as Finance and Journalism in global multinationals through to the practical roles within SME’s – to establishing and growing my own media and communications agency today, Brighter Directions which I am most proud of – working as a delivery partner in PR & Digital Communications to organisations ranging from innovative SME’s through to Corporates.

Passion and Hobbies

I adore my company and find great enjoyment from coming to work each day and having the pleasure to work on campaigns and brands I truly believe in and am passionate about. Outside of work I am a wife and mother to boys, and make it a point to lead by example in many traditional principles. Country walks are never far from our weekends as we live in one of the scenic regions in the UK. A true girl at heart, relaxing holidays with a good fictional book (or Kindle) are never too far away!
