The Association of Professional Sales (APS) has secured government backing to oversee the assessment of thousands of sales apprentices in a major endorsement of our expertise to administer approved qualifications and apprenticeships.
The APS has become the first, and at present, the only organisation on the government’s official register of end-point assessors for Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeships.
We have gained our place on the register after demonstrating our capability to deliver a rigorous, independent assessment at the end of each sales apprenticeship. And, in what can be a demanding process, we are pleased to say our application was validated at the first attempt.
Now, as authorised end-point assessors, we have completed the virtuous circle of creating the apprenticeship standard, having it agreed by government and now able to oversee the training and qualification of thousands of new sales apprentices.
The register, managed by the government’s Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), helps employers decide who should deliver their end-point assessment. Employers can only choose organisations to conduct end-point assessments from the register.
To appear on the register, the APS had to submit a significant number of documents which were reviewed, validated and passed by the ESFA. These documents confirm our status, ability and readiness to conduct the assessment process.

“The APS is the only independent body which understands the needs of global sales organisations and can therefore assess, validate and recognise salespeople from different companies, training providers and countries.
“Our appearance on the register gives quality assurance to employers, training providers and apprentices that they are working alongside, or being assessed by the leading independent organisation focused on skills, education and ethical conduct across the sales industry.
“This is another big step forward for the standing of the sales profession and promises to make the UK world-leaders in producing professional, qualified salespeople.”
Level 4 apprenticeships are equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate, bachelor’s degree and are for front-line B2B salespeople.
Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeships run for 18 months.
Each apprenticeship programme costs £6,000, but employers are able to pay this from the apprenticeship levy which was set up by the government in April 2017.
The creation of the Level 4 apprenticeships for frontline sales executives follows the committed work of the Association of Profession Sales alongside, industry leaders, training providers and the government.
Together, we agreed the shape, skills and funding for the new apprenticeships which received final, government sign-off last November (2018).
Now, as authorised end-point assessors, we have created a beginning-to-end pathway for sales apprentices.
