November 28, 2018:

Schlumberger, the world’s largest oilfield services company, has been honoured by the Association of Professional Sales (APS) for its commitment to ethical sales and professionalism.

More than 75 members of the company’s UK sales team have passed the APS ethical assessment to gain professional, registered status, qualifying Schlumberger to receive the APS Investor in Sales Award. This is the largest number of salespeople from a single sales team to have won our coveted award.

To achieve Investor in Sales status, more than 50 per cent of a sales force working in a specific region or business area is required to pass the APS assessment.

Earlier in 2018 Schlumberger took corporate membership of the APS and sponsored staff in their Sales & Commercial function in the UK to join the association. This is part of the company’s objective to provide relevant recognition and development of their staff

Andrew Hough, APS Co-CEO, said: “We are delighted to present our Investor in Sales Award to the hard-working sales team at Schlumberger. It shows they are committed to ethical, professional selling which reflects well on them and very importantly, builds trust with their customers.

“At the APS, we know that the development of a professional, skilled sales industry is helping to forge good customer relationships. It is building trust between buyer and seller across a host of different companies and sectors.

“We are really pleased to be working alongside Schlumberger as they continue to develop their internal sales academy with awards which are externally and independently vetted by the APS.”

Steve Kaufmann, Senior Vice President, Sales & Commercial at Schlumberger said, “Helping our employees progress and build their commercial acumen is very important to us. We are exploring how we can expand certification to the rest of our sales organisation.”

The Association of Professional Sales is the leading authority for salespeople. We are a not-for-profit organisation, reinvesting in our profession to build standards, trust and education.

As the UK heads towards Brexit the APS knows that our ability to sell British products and services has never been more important.

We are now engaging with MPs to promote professional sales across UK businesses and have worked with government and business leaders to establish sales apprenticeships up to degree and master’s level. We are also campaigning for a Royal Charter to give skilled, ethical salespeople the same status as other professions like accountants, lawyers, architects and surveyors.
